1. Travellers should satisfy themselves before commencing their journey that they will be permitted to enter the country of their destination.
2. All persons entering Northern Ireland must hold an, approved document of identity. Residence permits must the obtained by those whose stay in Northern Ireland is to be of more than six weeks' duration.
3. Under the Eire Emergency Powers (Passenger Traffic, Restrictions) Order, 1941, all persons (with the exception of officials and others travelling on official duty, as well as the personnel of ships and aircraft should be in possession of a passport, travel permit card Unofficial document of identity, otherwise they may be refused permission, to land. Permission to land may also be refused on medical grounds.
4. In GREAT BRITAIN exit permits, are granted by the Permit Offices in London, Liverpool and Glasgow:—

Note. — Unless a permit is granted for the outward and return journey, permission for the return journey must be obtained from the appropriate United Kingdom authority in Great Britain, Eire or Northern Ireland.
5. In NORTHERN IRELAND exit permits are, granted by the Permit Office, Atlantic Buildings, Waring Street, Belfast. Telephone No.: Belfast 25421. Application for such permits should, however, be made at the Royal Ulster Constabulary Barrack nearest the place in which the traveller, resides.
6. Persons leaving EIRE for Great Britain or for Overseas destinations via British ports must obtain visas from the United Kingdom Permit Office, 30, Merrion Square, Dublin.
7. Censorship. — Printed, written, typewritten or pictorial matter to be conveyed out of Great Britain must be submitted in advance to a Traveller's Censorship Office in London, Liverpool or Glasgow and a permit obtained. All baggage and documents not covered by such a permit have to be examined before a passenger is allowed to embark. Forms of application and copies of the regulations are obtainable at the Permit Offices.
8. Currency. — Travellers to Eire should note that restrictions have been imposed on the taking out by travellers leaving the United Kingdom of foreign currency, drafts, letters of credit and traveller's cheques (all expressed in foreign currency), gold, securities, life assurance policies and documents of title relating to securities or policies. A traveller who wishes to take with him any such item should consult his bankers, who will explain the precise nature of the restrictions and the procedure to be followed in order to, apply for the necessary Treasury permission.
9. The fee for the issue or replacement of a Travel Permit Card is 5/-.
CAUTION.
Care should be taken of this document. It should not be allowed to pass into the possession of an unauthorised person. If lost or destroyed the fact, and circumstances, should be reported immediately to the Permit Office. A new Travel Permit Card can only be issued in such cases after exhaustive enquiries. |
